Make Your Children a Fantastic Holiday!

Make Your Children a Fantastic Holiday!

Mid-year school holiday is coming soon, what are you planning to let your children do during this 2-weeks-long holiday?

Many parents, especially working parents, will just send the children to tuition center. Almost all tuition centers still operate during school holidays and have intensive classes to keep children busy during holidays. Although tuition center is a good place to keep your children learning and the environment is safe, sending children to academic tuitions totally lost the meaning of school holidays.

There might be some tuition centers telling you about ‘Holiday Learning Loss’, convincing you to let your children continue study during school holidays to prevent their academic results drop after holidays. Look, our kids are not having a long summer break. In many countries, the winter break usually is one month long and the summer break can be up to 3 months. Children who spent their whole summer break for non-academic activities would encounter ‘Holiday Learning Loss’ a.k.a. ‘Summer Learning Loss’.

In Malaysia, since our school holidays are shorter, it is good to expose our children to other activities or simply let them take some good rest during the holidays. In case you run out of ideas, I’ve aggregated some awesome places and activities that you and your children might love!

Old Movies Date

When is the last time your whole family spent times together inside the house? Why don’t put away all the smartphones and tablets and have a bonding session on the couch with your dearest family during this holiday?

Pick some old movies which you loved during your childhood or teenage times and watch it together with your children! Tell your children all the those-days-stories about who were your favorite movie star, where did you go for movies and who were the friends you usually hang out with.
When I have kids in future, I definitely will watch all the Ghibli’s movies together with them!

Anyway, it is best to discuss with your children how they want to spend the holiday. Just make sure they don’t commit into dangerous activities and don’t spend all their times on computer games. Let them involve in the planning because they need to learn how to strategize their free times too. After all, it’s their holiday!
